Clutter and Corporate Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is also known as corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, responsible business.
In essence it is a voluntary commitment that businesses made to embrace and include in their decision making process a consideration and responsibility for the impact of their activities on the environment, customers, clients, employees, the communities they work in, stakeholders and all other members of the public. They may also encourage community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminate practices that harm the people they work with and for, regardless of legality.
Some people consider CSR to be a way of businesses and corporate companies considering what is known as the ‘triple bottom line’ which is to consider:
- People
- Planet
- Profit
This is a big change when traditionally profit has been the driving force of any business and corporate company.
So what has Clutter Clearing and Corporate De-cluttering got to do with Corporate Responsibility or responsible business?
Simple.
Clearing your corporate clutter can help you address the triple bottom line. De-cluttering helps people, the planet and profit.
People
It is well document that clutter can have a negative affect on people’s moods. In fact, we’ve got a page on this website dedicated to how Physical clutter negatively affects Mental clutter and therefore how reducing Physical clutter can reduce Mental clutter. This consequently improves the mental health and well being of the people and staff who work for you as their working environment is a more positive, energetic place to be without all the clutter. They can think more clearly, have more energy and are overall more productive in their daily tasks.
Planet
We’re all aware of our environmental responsibilities these days. Whether we’re at work or at home the reduce, reuse and recycle message is encouraging us to recycle whatever we can.
By having a strategic de-clutter a company can not only create more space and save money, but also recycle any paperwork that is no longer legally needed (after first shredding any confidential material) and, as we have done with several companies we have worked with, generated valuable, free local advertising through newspaper articles highlighting the companies commitment to recycling and reducing waste in their work environment.
Profit
As is detailed on the ‘reduce clutter, reduce costs’ page listed on the left, clearing your corporate clutter can reduce your overheads which means that you can increase your profit margin or reduce your prices – particularly beneficial in the current climate. And because we teach staff how to clear their clutter, they’re learning a skill that they can use again and again without the requirement of ongoing training or support. Therefore the initial investment in any in-house training and support is only a one off cost. The only ongoing cost is training for new staff and departmental floor walking support as and when you have a Clutter Clearing day in the office to clear any backlog that may have accumulated.
