Friends and family don’t understand
If we had a pound for every time we'd heard this from our clients, we'd be millionnaires by now!
Friends and family may try to help, but it doesn’t always work, does it? They mean well but unless they have a challenge with their clutter (and it’s unlikely if they’re trying to help you at a practical level), then they don’t necessarily understand why it’s not easy for you to do it.
What we often hear clients say include:
- They keep telling me to just get on with it
- They have clutter themselves so they don’t understand why it bothers me
- Tut or comment or worse every time they come to visit
- They avoid coming to visit because they say or suggest that my home is a mess
- I’ve asked them to help me but they think I should just bin it all
- I’d like their help but I’m afraid they’d bin everything
- I feel ashamed to ask friends and/or family round to my home.
The way that we teach people the skill of how to de-clutter is one that, once you’ve mastered it (and you can in just a day of practicing and repeating it), you’ll gain self confidence that you can and are in control of your clutter and, if you want, you can ask your friends and family to help you but in a very specific way.
Indeed, the eBooks and workbooks have a section dedicated to how friends and family CAN help you without causing World War 3!
