The Ultimate Success Formula.
1. Decide what you want2. Take Action
3. Notice what's working or not
4. Change your approach until you achieve what you want.
You have decided you want to clear your clutter. You have taken action by searching for help and landing on this website.
I can now help you with steps 3 & 4 by helping you notice what's working and what's not, and giving you an approach that is GUARANTEED to work to get you a clutter free, organised and working home - assuming that's what you want of course......!
Successful de-cluttering & organising requires us to take each task separately.
It's not until we've cleared, sorted and reduced the amount of 'clutter' we have that we can see how much we have to store and organise in the space we have in your home.
Clare Baker, Specialist Clutter Coach
Imagine your home as a conveyor belt. The size of the conveyor belt is proportional to the size of your home e.g. a one bedroom flat will be a smaller conveyor belt than a 4 bedroom house with a garage and shed.
Clutter gets put on the conveyor belt at a certain speed. It then moves down the conveyor belt and either comes off the conveyor belt at some point, or is kept on the conveyor belt.
If clutter is added to the conveyor belt quicker than it comes off, the conveyor belt will slow down under the weight and volume of clutter and eventually stop.
If clutter continues to be added even after the conveyor belt has stopped, then the clutter will simply pile up on the conveyor belt until there is no space left in the room that the conveyor belt is housed.
The skill of clearing your clutter and learning to clear and control it in the long term requires you to understand that you need to do 5 things:
- clear the backlog of clutter that’s on the conveyor belt so that it can start moving again and create more space on the conveyor belt
- learn how to control the rate and volume at which clutter is added to the conveyor belt
- learn and accept that the size of your home is reflected in the size of your conveyor belt, therefore not all clutter on the conveyor belt can be kept
- learn to remove clutter from the conveyor belt
- learn to decide where the clutter that is removed goes.
Do you see where your challenge with your clutter is?
The secret to ‘how’ to clear your clutter is to recognise what is happening with respect to your conveyor belt, to acknowledge that you need to do the 5 things listed above and, if necessary, to get the help and learning to get your conveyor belt working efficiently again.
If you would like that help then you’ve come to the right place.
You now have two options.
1. Short Term Temporary Quickly Fix
Buy lots of boxes, pack up the clutter, put it in the loft, garage, shed, cellar, in cupboards, under beds, even in off site storage facilities if you have to. Maybe you could get a skip and just put it all in there. Just get it away from the place you want to have more space in and make sure you and other people can’t see it. Out of sight, out of mind, right? If you’ve had your clutter problem for a while then I suspect you know what I’m talking about……!.....hide your clutter wherever you can.
2. Long Term Permanent Fix
If you want to have more space for longer than a few hours, days or weeks, and most crucially avoid it coming back again in the future, then you’re going to have to accept that you need to sort, clear, reduce and organise your clutter......Clear your Clutter and break your Clutter Accumulation Cycle
We work with people who want to achieve a Long Term Permanent Fix to their clutter challenge.
It may take longer to achieve the clutter free home, but you won't need to have us back again in the future because you'll have acquired a new skill of controlling and organising your home so that the clutter doesn't return.
