I get started, then give up
When you get started, do you just get stuck in and keep going?
- Do you sort your things into piles and then find you’ve got lots and lots of piles all around the place?
- Do you run out of energy and then pile the piles on top of each other?
- Do you run out of time in the middle of doing some de-cluttering?
- Do you struggle to keep the motivation and focusing going?
- Do you find something amongst the clutter that you decide to read/look through / do something with and never get back to the clearing, sorting and categorising?
- Do you open the door to the room, close it again and decide to do it another day?
- Do you keep going and find you’ve run out of energy before you’ve managed to do something with your clutter?
Bad news I’m afraid. You’re perfectly normal.
Very often we get started with the best of intentions and then either loose momentum, motivation, focus or energy. Part of the reason for this is that we haven’t got a clearly defined goal that we’re working towards.
Imagine building a house without some idea of what you wanted it to look like, when you wanted it built by, how many rooms you wanted, what you wanted it made out of, even where you were going to build it. It’d be pretty difficult to build a house without knowing these basics, wouldn’t it?
Having a goal, a plan of how you’re going to get there and something to keep going when times are tough are crucial to succeeding at clearing your clutter. The process we teach not only works, but will enable you to keep the clutter at bay, make more space in your home and help you get more organised for good.
