The Clutter Returns
You and every other determined declutterer have one thing in common:
You want the clutter gone once and for all.
Yet you've almost certainly done some decluttering in the past and found that the clutter has returned.
Why is that?
Clare's Top Tip Subscribers tell her that:
- 54.5% of them have de-cluttered before and found the clutter has come back again
- a further 19% of them have de-cluttered before and found the clutter has come back again, and now there's EVEN MORE clutter than there was before!
If you've ever set aside a day or a weekend to declutter, decided to be ruthless with your decision making or just got a skip to get rid of it all and start again, yet discovered it hasn't worked in the long run then you'll be able to relate to Clare's top tip subscribers.
It's because of these statistics that getting someone in to do your decluttering for you will not enable you to become Clutter Free Forever, regardless of how much you pay someone to do it for you. When you consider that the cost of an experienced 'expert' declutterer costs, for most people, 20% of their monthly income per day that 'expert' is with them, it turns out to be an expensive way of getting a short term solution to their clutter challenge that doesn't last.
Clare knows.
Approximately 18% of her Success Club members have done exactly that and discovered (the expensive way) it doesn't work in the long term, and for many doesn't even work in the short term when they realise they've put someone else in control of their clutter and making the judgements on their belongings.
That's what makes us unqiue in the field of clutter - we help people get a long term permanent solution to their clutter challenge so that the clutter never returns again.
Clare has been clutter free for 10 years since overcoming her clutter challenge in 2001 and has helped thousands of people since then become Clutter Free Forever too.
So why does the clutter return?
Imagine your home as a conveyor belt.
Becoming Clutter Free Forever and ensuring that the clutter never returns to the same levels again is about getting back control of YOUR Conveyor Belt.
YOU deciding what comes onto YOUR conveyor belt. YOU deciding what stays onYOUR conveyor belt, YOU deciding where on your conveyor belt you want things to live, YOU deciding what comes off your conveyor belt, and YOU deciding how you want and need your conveyor belt to work.
It's all about YOUR Conveyor Belt, not someone elses conveyor belt, or trying to imitate someone elses conveyor belt. We're not even trying to copy a conveyor belt that may be shown in the TV programme or in the magazines.
De-cluttering is the equivalent of getting things off the conveyor belt.
However, if we're not adjusting the way that things are coming onto the conveyor belt then guess what? The clutter will just accumulate again in the future on the conveyor belt, and we'll have a backlog of clutter to clear again at some point in the future.
That's why weekend blitz's don't work - because it's a one off event focused on working on getting things off the conveyor belt. It's not dealing with things coming onto the conveyor belt.
It's also why getting someone in to do the decluttering for you - making the decisions about what 'should' come off your conveyor belt and what 'should' stay on, is not
To truely deal with our clutter challenge so we can be Clutter Free Forever, we need to address all areas of the conveyor belt - increasing the number and frequency of things coming off the conveyor belt both now as we declutter the backlog of clutter and once we're clutter free, reducing and controling the things coming onto the conveyor belt both now as we declutter the backlog of clutter and once we're clutter free, and organising what stays on the conveyor belt better so that things have a clearly defined home and we can quickly and easily find things in the future.
- Clare believes in putting YOU back in the control seat.
- Clare believes that, with the right support, guidance, advice, information, ideas and examples YOU can decide what's best for YOU in YOUR home. All you need are 3 things:
- help to work out what's best for YOU and YOUR needs in YOUR home
- a method for de-cluttering and organising your home that enables you to achieve what's best for YOU quicker than you are now
- ongoing support, guidance and access to resources that are relevant, practical and appropriate to YOU and YOUR needs.
Rome wasn't built in a day, your clutter didn't appear overnight, and it's not going to disappear overnight. Many people may promise you that, but none of them deliver because it's not possible.
- Clare does not believe in making the decisions for you or telling you what you 'should' or 'shouldn't' keep. After all, what to her is worthless piece of paper may be to you a last letter from a loved one - how will she be able to tell the difference?
- Nor does Clare believe in bagging, boxing, moving, labelling clutter and just finding places to put it all in your home. That's not reducing the amount of clutter you've got, and there's nothing professional or requiring special skills to do that. If this is what you want then hire a cleaner or a temp for a day, it's much cheaper than a professional qualified coach.
- Clare doesn't believe in deciding where you 'should' put things in your home or how it 'should' be organised. She doesn't live in your home or know what your needs are so how can she know what's best for you? You can have 2 identical homes and if one has a family of 4 and 2 dogs living there, it's needs for how it is best organised will be very different to a single person who is out at work all week.
- Clare also doesn't believe in storage being the solution to your clutter challenge. She's worked with enough clients who have bought storage believing that's the answer to their clutter problem and discovered that there's no such thing as a tardis where there's more space on the inside than appears on the outside. It's why she refuses to work with off site storage companies - because all that achieves is the out of sight, out of mind problem.
