A Standard Amount of Clutter
A standard amount of clutter is defined as:
- visible clutter that people would notice if they entered the room
- clutter to the same or similar levels to the picture on the right plus clutter in cupboards, drawers, under furniture
- 3 or more rooms with clutter in
- surfaces covered
- 50% - 75% of the floor covered
- clutter stacked in piles, boxes, bags
- inability to easily access and use all cupboards, drawers, areas of the room
- cupboards and drawers stuffed and disorganised
If this sounds familiar and you have this much clutter, then you need to know that a day or two of help is not going to be enough to clear your clutter, either in the short or long term.
Your clutter didn't appear overnight, it's not going to be cleared overnight, whether you do it on your own or with help.
Realistically it is going to take you some time to clear the backlog of clutter.
You are going to need ongoing help to clear the backlog and put some new habits in place to maintain a clutter free home once you've cleared the backlog of clutter and prevent the clutter returning..
I would recommend the following 5 options:
