The 8 Ingredients of Success


To successfully and permanently clear our clutter it requires 8 ‘ingredients’.

1.    Timing     
2.    Clarity     
3.    Action     
4.    Focus    
5.    Commitment     
6.    Patience     
7.    Nurturing    
8.    Flexibility     

Add them all up together and you'll achieve 100% GREATER success with your clutter clearing than you have achieved in the past.

Of course in order to start putting the 8 ingredients together to get that successful de-cluttering, you have to have already noticed, acknowledged and accepted that the way you're doing your de-cluttering - the process and method you're using - isn't working because it's not getting the results you want and need.

If the process and method you're using isn't getting the results you want and need, then it's time to try a different process and method. Once you accept that, you can move on to putting together the 8 ingredients for success.

Timing


My clients often become aware of their clutter in Spring. They may decide to do something about it then, but if the time isn’t right then they’ll leave it until the time is right. Just like spring my clients can’t force themselves to de-clutter just because someone has ‘told them’ they ‘should’. In fact, some clients have taken 3 or 4 years to realise the timing is right FOR THEM.

Of course the other issue with timing is how long my clients ‘assume’ they have to dedicate to their clutter clearing.  Many ‘assume’ they have to find half days, whole days, whole weekends, whole weeks even to clear their clutter. I have to remind them about the importance of timing – we need this to fit in with daily life, not become our life. Only then can we move onto the other stages of success. That’s why we NEVER do more than 2 hours of clutter clearing in any one Clutter Clearing Session, because the timing has to be right.

Clarity



If you’re going to clear your clutter you need to be really clear about what you’re trying to achieve and you need to look clearly beyond the first step.  Yes you want to clear your clutter, but then what? What will that do for you? What will you achieve by doing that?  What will you gain, other than just more space? What will you do with that space? How will you be with that space?

Action


My clients have to take action, whether it’s signing up for the FREE top tips, calling me for help or learning a new way of doing it. If they call me for help then they have realised that, for them, they need help to take that action, they can’t take that action on their own, they need my help to get the action that they want and need to get the results they want and need in relation to their clutter.

Focus


My clients have to focus.  They have to focus on one room at a time, making sure they gain clarity on what they’re working towards, doing actions that get the results they want, and focusing on completing one room at a time.  In fact, in the telephone coaching and follow up support that comes with help in the home, I guarantee that the first 2 weeks will be spent getting the client focused on one area rather than flitting from room to room and between ‘types’ of clutter.

Commitment


My clients have to be committed – not just to taking action by buying an eBook, DIY Kit, Audio Guide, booking telephone coaching or help in the home.  Just as most of my clients have de-cluttering books in amongst their clutter yet have never read them or turned them into action, people who use the products or services on this website have to be committed to doing more action than just buying. They have to commit time, effort and energy – and that commitment will have to last longer than a day, a week or maybe even a month. We’re in this for the long term permanent fix, not the short term quick fix.

Patience


Patience, along with commitment, is the other important ingredient for my clients. Many wish that by having a day or two of help in their home they’ll have a clutter free and organised home by the end of it.  Sometimes we do, if they only have a little clutter or one or two rooms with clutter, but the majority of the time we don’t.

Nurturing


We need to nurture our clutter clearing.  If we know that we need commitment and patience, then we’re going to need to nurture ourselves and our time.  We can’t concentrate on clearing the clutter if we don’t. Reward yourself to nurture your confidence.  Protect your clutter clearing time to practice and nurture your new way of doing it. Learn to nurture yourself so we don’t have to be dependent on other people to nurture us.
