Yet you've almost certainly done some decluttering in the past and found that the clutter has returned.
Why is that?
Clare's Top Tip Subscribers tell her that:
- 54.5% of them have de-cluttered before and found the clutter has come back again
- a further 19% of them have de-cluttered before and found the clutter has come back again, and now there's EVEN MORE clutter than there was before!
Here's the secret of how to become Clutter Free Forever.
- Things come into your home or onto the conveyor belt
- Things stay in your home or stay on on the conveyor belt
- Things go out of your home or come off the conveyor belt
To be Clutter Free Forever, you need to deal with all 3 areas of the conveyor belt - not just get things off the conveyor belt. That's why weekend blitz's don't work - because it's a one off event focused on working on getting things off the conveyor belt. It's not dealing with and creating new habits that will control the things coming onto the conveyor belt.
Think about this in relation to your own home.
- How often do things come into your home?
- How often do things come off your conveyor belt?
- How many things come onto your conveyor belt and never come off your conveyor belt?
- Which area of your conveyor belt have you been concentrating on when you've done some declutterering?
- Which areas of the conveyor belt have you forgotten about dealing with?
Clare helps people who know they need to deal with all 3 areas of the Clutter Conveyor Belt.
You have your clutter because more is coming onto your conveyor belt than is coming off your conveyor belt. It doesn't matter if you have a one bedroom flat or a 6 bedroom mansion, this basic fact remains the same.
You will have noticed the clutter because less has been coming off your conveyor belt than has been coming onto your conveyor belt, and consequently the things have built up on the conveyor belt. A build up of clutter causes our conveyor belts to grind to a hault due to the sheer volume and weight of the things on the conveyor belt.
DECLUTTERING your home is all about getting things OFF your conveyor belt so that there's less on your conveyor belt and it can start turning again.
ORGANISING your home is all about deciding where things are going to live, defining homes and making sure we put things where they belong and things are used and appreciated while they're on the conveyor belt.
MAINTAINING a Clutter Free Home is all about having simple systems in place so that we can ensure that things come off the conveyor belt in proportion to the things that come onto the conveyor belt so they don't build up on the conveyor belt again. This requires use to have clearly defined homes for things, ways of getting things off the conveyor belt that are easy and effortless, and turning these new systems into new habits. This takes time.
If we only focus on things coming OFF the conveyor belt, it's meaningless if things are still coming ONTO the conveyor belt at the same rate as they were before because, sooner or later, the clutter will build up on the conveyor belt again.
To achieve a long term, permanent solution to our clutter challenge - and I'm assuming you don't want to have to clear a backlog of clutter ever again - then we need to deal with ALL areas of the conveyor belt and put new habits in place so that we make sure the clutter doesn't return.
Becoming Clutter Free Forever and ensuring that the clutter never returns to the same levels again is about YOU getting back control of YOUR Conveyor Belt.
YOU deciding what comes onto YOUR conveyor belt. YOU deciding what stays onYOUR conveyor belt, YOU deciding where on your conveyor belt you want things to live, YOU deciding what comes off your conveyor belt, and YOU deciding how you want and need your conveyor belt to work.
Why does the clutter return?
It returns because you've only dealt with one end of the conveyor belt when you've done some decluttering. You've focused on getting things off your conveyor belt (and probably regretted some of the decisions you've made to do that) and forgotten about the other end of the conveyor belt and controlling what comes onto it.
Consequently, although you've got some clutter off the conveyor belt, it soon gets replaced with the clutter that is continously coming onto the conveyor belt at the other end.
If you've ever set aside a day or a weekend to declutter, decided to be ruthless with your decision making or just got a skip to get rid of it all and start again, yet discovered it hasn't worked in the long run then you'll know that clutter has a habit of growing, reappearing or following you around your home.
It's because the clutter usually reappears that getting someone in to do your decluttering for you will not enable you to become Clutter Free Forever, regardless of how much you pay someone to do it for you. When you consider that the cost of an experienced 'expert' declutterer costs, for most people, 20% of their monthly income per day that 'expert' is with them, it turns out to be an expensive way of getting a short term solution to their clutter challenge that doesn't last.
Clare's clients know all about this.
Approximately 18% of her Success Club members have done exactly that and discovered (the expensive way) it doesn't work in the long term, and for many doesn't even work in the short term when they realise they've put someone else in control of their clutter and making the judgements on their belongings.
That's what makes Clare unqiue in the way she helps people with their clutter. She help's people get a long term permanent solution to their clutter challenge so that the clutter never returns again.
