How does Clutter Coaching Work?
Clutter Coaching is about enabling YOU to get back control and learn the Clutter Clearing Process, therefore I don't need to be standing by your side in your home to help you (although I can do that if you prefer).
People have their weekly Clutter Coaching Sessions with me either on the telephone, via skype (for clients outside the UK) or face-to-face in their home. The majority of people have their weekly 3 hour Clutter Clearing Session with me by telephone or skype.
Step 1: The Pre-Package Telephone Consultation
Before we do our first Clutter Clearing Session together, either over the telephone / skype, or face to face in your home, we will spend an hour on the telephone /skype clarifying the current situation with your clutter, identifying what has contributed to the current situation, how you'd like to change it and what your key challenges you've had in the past.
Step 2: Our Weekly 3 hour Clutter Clearing Sessions
After that we begin our weekly 3 hour Clutter Clearing Sessions. At the same time on the same day each week, for however many weeks are in the package you've booked, you'll call me on the telephone, call me via skype, or I'll visit you in your home and we'll go through the Clutter Clearing Process as many times as we can in those 3 hours.
The first Call - the Set Up Call
The first call is a 'set up' call where we review how you've been getting on since the previous week with maintaining what you achieved, deal with any questions, queries, challenges you've had, find solutions if necessary etc. We'll also get focused on the 3 hours ahead, making sure we get clear about what we're doing, have our 7 categories, have the all important reward ready for the end!
The first Clutter Clearing Session
We'll end the set-up call and you'll then begin to categorise and sort your clutter for 30 minutes. If you struggle then you just call me - I'm on standby, your very own panic button ready and waiting to clarify anything and get you back on track if necessary.
The second call - the check-in with Clare
When your timer goes off, you finish the handful of clutter that you're categorising and sorting and then call me. We'll review what you've been doing, the things you've been through, talk about anything you've been unsure of or struggled to make a decision on etc. Then we'll do the second Clutter Clearing Session.
The repeat
We'll repeat the Clutter Clearing Sessions and check-in calls throughout the remaining time.
The final call - the check-in with Clare
Half an hour before the end of the 3 hour session, Clare get you focused on wrapping up the session by doing a series of specific things. We need to make sure we don't end up with endless piles of clutter! Then you'll review any items you're still not sure about with Clare to see if you can make a decision, and think about what you've realised and learnt from your session. It's important to learn from each session so that we can prevent the clutter returning.
Step 3: Maintaining what you achieve
Inbetween each weeks session you'll set yourself a goal to accomplish certain things before the following week which will start to create the habits and routines that will ensure the clutter never returns.
The following week we'll talk about what you've managed to do during the week - and what you've struggled to do and why - and how we can overcome those challenges if they appear again. You need to know now that you will have both good and not so good weeks as you start to clear your clutter, and that's OK. In fact, I wouldn't believe you if, over the course of a series of weeks, you didn't have a tough week!
The focus of all the Clutter Clearing is to eat the elephant that is our clutter bit by bit. Clearing our clutter is a journey, not a one off event and your Clutter Coach is your travelling companion who will keep you focused on the right path, give you directions when you need them and motivate you to keep going when you can't see the end of the path.
Your weekly sessions with me will be relaxed, friendly and realistic.
Remember - I'm on your side because I've overcome my own clutter challenge back in 2001. I know how much of a challenge it is to deal with it on your own like I had to. I know no one has the right to tell you what you 'should' or 'shouldn't keep or do with your clutter.
You don't have to take over a year to clear it like I did. I can help you get clear quicker and more easily - and for good.
You're always in charge of your clutter. You'll always have choices that you can be comfortable with. You'll never be made to be ruthless, or regret your decisions. Your decisions will always be respected because you know what's best for you.
