How long will it take to
clear the clutter?
There is no definitive, one size fits all answer to this question when people are doing their decluttering on their own.
I'm sure you want the clutter gone as quickly as possible - I know I did when I'd reached that point. You may even have had someone in to do it for you, thinking it would save you time and effort, yet found that the clutter has returned.
Remember: If you want a long term permament solution to your clutter challenge, it's going to require YOU to get it back under control, and that's going to take time. You're going to have to be patient and kind to yourself. Your clutter didn't appear overnight, it's not going to disappear overnight (and if you've ever had a blitz you know it doesn't last).
There are 7 factors to consider.
- How much clutter you have to start with
- How many rooms you want to clear and organise
- How much time you commit to clearing it
- How willing you are to accept that you need to reduce the amount of clutter you have if you want to create more space
- How realistic - rather than ruthless - you are with your decision making, so that things come out of your home
- How well you control the accumulation of new clutter as you clear the backlog of clutter
- What process you are using to clear and organise your clutter
If you are using the Clutter Clearing Process, then the following acts as a guide for how long you can expect it to take to clear your clutter.
