Ruth had a Deadline
The baby would be arriving in 3 months and the ‘nursery’ was still the junk room.
Either the baby had to be delayed (!) or the junk room had to be de-cluttered.
Her partner put down her sense of overwhelm and frustration to ‘the hormones’. Ruth planned to pay him back for those comments during the birth (!).
Regardless of their situation and deadline, Ruth knew that once the baby arrived there was no way that the de-cluttering and organising would happen – and at this rate there would be nowhere for the baby to sleep.
She needed to clear the clutter and get organised so they could accommodate their impending life change.
Ruth knew she needed one-to-one help that could be specific to her particular situation, yet she also needed to get that help on a budget. So, as a referral from a top tip subscriber, Ruth called Clare and asked if she could help.Of course Clare could help! The telephone coaching was perfect as it could fit around Ruths demanding job (which meant she was only available for her telephone coaching calls in the evenings) and could be structured such that she had the weekly check-in, trouble shooting, problem solving, motivation, success sharing etc on a regular basis.
As with all Success Club members, the 1 hour telephone consultation before the first Assisted Clutter Clearing Session was crucial to understand the clutter, the challenges, the impending needs. Clare and Ruth talked about how they could involve Ruth’s partner in the de-cluttering and organising without him knowing she was getting outside help and in a way that enabled Ruth to make the decisions while focusing her partner on the lifting and shifting. He was, she said ‘happy to lift and shift and be told what to do, rather than get excited about baby furniture!’
By the first Assisted Clutter Clearing Session, Ruth was ready.
‘It was so much easier ’ Ruth told Clare when they had their second Assisted Clutter Clearing Session. |
By the end of her Assisted Clutter Clearing Session, Ruth had completely de-cluttered and organised what had become the nursery.
‘I can’t believe what we’ve achieved in such a short space of time. |
