What is a Clutter Coach?A Clutter Coach is a trained, qualified and experienced professional who works with people who want to learn the skill, get the guidance and support they need to overcome the overwhelm and procrastination so that they get back control themselves and in the process create the new habits required to achieve a clutter free home - forever.
|
|
This involves 2 key things:
- clearing the backlog of clutter that you currently have
- overcoming the overwhelm, getting started, making time, learning the step by step Clutter Clearing Process, learning how to make realisitc decisions, getting the advice and guidance you need at the exact time you 'do the doing'
- putting new, positive habits and routines in place
- so that you can control and maintain a clutter free home, forever once the backlog is cleared. These take time - and practice - to put in place.
The Clutter Coach Approach
A Clutter Coach is someone who has specific, recognised, accredited skills and experience to:
- ensure you achieve a long term permanent solution to your clutter challenge
- keep you focused on your goal of a clutter free home
- get you started and keep the momentum going
- ensure every step you take is a positive one
- teach and guide you through the Clutter Clearing Process while also taking action to turn it into reality
- ensure you make time to take action so you get the results you need and deserve
- support you on your journey to that clutter free home
- acknowledge your successes and achievements throughout your journey
- enable you to learn from the inevitable setbacks and challenges on your journey
- create the new, positive habits that will keep you clutter free forever
- give you the advice and knowledge you need, at the exact time you need it, to ensure you succeed
They are different to other 'experts' in the decluttering field in 7 key ways:
- They have undertaken a minimum of a year of recognised, assessed and certified training
- They have a minimum of a year of experience of working with people who have clutter
- In most instances, they have overcome their own challenge with clutter
- They are teaching, guiding and supporting the client to follow a very clear, step by step process so that the client acquires independence, freedom and a skill for life
- They provide a minimum of a month of help and support for the client to ensure the results last
- Because they don't 'do the doing' for the client, they are not limited to providing only a face-to-face home visit. They can guide, support and advise clients via the telephone or skype.
- When they do coach people face-to-face in their homes, they remove and distribute unwanted clutter for the client and organise bulk shredding.
Put simply:
- a Clutter Coach is someone who works with you over a period of time - a minimum of a month - to help you deal with both the CAUSE AND SYMPTOM of your Clutter so that you achieve a long term permanent solution to your clutter challenge and you stay clutter free forever.
whereas:
- a Professional Declutterer and Organiser works with you for a short period of time - usually a day or two - and deals only with the SYMPTOM which usually results in a short term temporary solution. This may be through decluttering (getting things off the conveyor belt) or by reorgnanising what is on the conveyor belt (which rarely involves a significant amount - if any - coming off the conveyor belt).
Imagine your home as a conveyor belt - like in the picture.
The Symptom
Dealing with the SYMPTOM is focused on two areas of the conveyor belt:
Notice that it is the organisation area of the conveyor belt - not the organisation AND maintenance area.
- the Clutter Clearing
- Organisation
The Cause
Dealing with the CAUSE is dealing with the other 2 areas of the conveyor belt:
This involves putting habits and techniques in place to make sure that the conveyor belt is constantly moving so you can control what comes onto your conveyor belt, organise what's on the conveyor belt so that things don't get lost and you save time, and ensure you have a system that ensures that clutter is constantly and regularly coming off the conveyor belt so yu can maintain the levels of things on the conveyor belt, thus ensuring the clutter never again accumulates and requires.
- Clutter Accumulation
- Organisation and Maintenance
Why Worry about the Cause of the Clutter?
If you only deal with the symptom, you'll need help every time the clutter reappears. If you've ever decluttered before and found the clutter has returned, you'll understand this!
Only by understanding why and how your clutter appeared - and reappears - will you be able to clear your clutter, get back control and stay clutter free.
The benefits to YOU of working in this way include:
- It's available to anyone anywhere in the world, for the same investment. You do not pay extra for living in the middle of nowhere, miles from anywhere that would otherwise take many miles, time and additional cost to get to for a home visit.
- The per hour equivalent cost is less than that of a home visit because we do not need to have extra insurance for being in your home and handling your belongings. We only need the professional insurance for giving you advice.
- You can be sure you are getting a qualified, experienced person helping you - me - who has 9 years full time experience of helping people like you.
I do not employ unqualified people to deliver the service because that would compromise the quality of service and advice that you would get (although she does have some people who have started the new 1 year training progamme which is required before they even speak to a client).
Until September 2012 I will continue to be the only person to deliver the service.
- You are learning how to get back control YOURSELF rather than becoming dependent on someone else
- It's a short term investment that you won't need to repeat because you're learning a new skill for life
- There are no hidden costs for travel to your home
- There are no extra costs for help at the weekend
- You do not have to find a whole day or weekend to do your decluttering.
- People Succeed with their decluttering, because they have already accepted, by using me to help them, that they are going to be 'doing the doing' themselves with my 1-2-1 coaching, support, advice etc. Therefore people who think there's a quick fix solution will not ask me for help.
I believe - and know from my successful clients - that with the right guidance, advice, information and support that you can be guided to decide what's best for YOU in YOUR home, for YOUR life and for YOUR clutter free future, so that you get back control yourself.
Remember:
You must check someone's qualifications, training and experience before using them.
