10 Signs Your Clutter Is Part of Your Identity
10 Signs Your Clutter Is Part of Your Identity
10 WAYS TO ENSURE YOU FOLLOW YOUR WEEKLY PLANNER
- You have no clear sense of what your Best Life, your vision or life purpose would be without your clutter. You can’t imagine your life without your clutter, avoid thinking about it or imagining it
- You are scared that if you let go of your clutter you’ll limit your future choices and possibilities
- You believe that you are, and always will be, a clutterholic, that it’s just who you are, and that you can’t change. You are extremely critical of yourself for not having dealt with your clutter in the past
- You don’t believe your clutter challenge is a result of your habits or thinking. You believe it’s just the result of a one off event (e.g. inheriting items, downsizing, chapter of life)
- You self-sabotage your Journey, especially on Step 4 and beyond e.g. procrastination, not protecting your boundaries with other people, being impulsive, over-filling your Weekly Planner, not following your Weekly Planner, not following the Clutter Clearing Term Time schedule, not doing your Wheel of Life Review every term so you know what is a priority for your time, energy and effort. Beyond Step 1 you continue to regularly (daily or weekly) accumulate things you don’t need, don’t use, and that causes your clutter to grow back
- You feel emotionally, mentally and / or physically safe with your clutter
- You don’t believe you need help to clear it, to learn why you have it, learn how to make decisions, break and make habits to stay clutter free Forever. As a result, you skip videos or exercises – especially the LIFE Timeline – because you want to avoid the emotional aspect of your clutter. You are scared to find out why you struggle, and of becoming Clutter Free Forever
- You are known amongst family and friends as ‘the cluttered one’
- You don’t think your clutter is a big issue or will take long to deal with when you find time. You get defensive and angry at thought of letting go of anything in your clutter. You can justify keeping everything
- You can’t imagine your life without your clutter. Imagining a clutter free life triggers a feeling of fear, and the fear of failure is so strong that you avoid writing your Best Life script on paper so you and others can see it in black and white
You can clear your clutter fast, or you can clear your clutter forever, but you can’t clear your clutter forever, fast.
