Clutter Clearing Progress

On our Clutter Clearing Journey we talk about being a rock, snail, turtle, or Elephant.

This simply refers to how much time and how frequently we are spending time ‘Doing the Doing’ of watching and following our Clutter Clearing Journey videos, which helps us to manage our expectations.

To make progress and start building the routine that will ultimately break the old habits we have and create the new habits we need if we want to clear our clutter Forever, we need to be a minimum of a successful snail – simply watching and following our Journey videos for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Any less and we won’t build a routine that will enable us to create the habits we need to stay Clutter Free Forever.

It is also important not to be more than a powerful elephant, never doing more than two hours a day, or one Clutter Clearing Journey Day five days a week. Any more than that and your Clutter Clearing Journey will take over your life, you won’t be able to maintain your focus, you’ll start to resent it, and you’ll be left with a void in your life when you’ve cleared all your clutter, which means the clutter will eventually grow back.

When you set your goal for 2024, make sure you underestimate so you can overachieve. Base your animal goal on what you actually did the term before.

If you have consistently done 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week in 2023, then aim to be a Successful Snail as your weekly goal during the first Clutter Clearing Term in 2024. That way you’re being realistic, and you’re more likely to succeed. If you were fluctuated between animals last term, underestimate by setting a goal to be the lowest one – excluding the rigid rock!

Regardless of whether you decide to be a Successful Snail or Steady Turtle in 2024, always set aside 2 hours a day, 7 days a week on your weekly planner so you automatically have contingency time built in, giving you the choice to do more if you want and are able to.

You can clear your clutter fast, or you can clear your clutter forever, but you can’t clear your clutter forever, fast.
