12 Signs You are Procrastinating
12 Signs You are Procrastinating
12 SIGNS YOU ARE PROCRASTINATING
- You don’t manage your time i.e. you don’t do and/or follow a weekly planner, you prioritise the things you want to do, before making time to work on your Journey videos
- You ALWAYS underestimate how long things will take to do which means you either give up without finishing things, spend most of your time prioritising other people, or never have time to prioritise yourself or practice self-care
- You get easily distracted because your temporal discounting is so strong
- You don’t prioritise your tasks and time, instead doing whatever comes to mind or you feel like doing in the moment which you always tell yourself is a priority, even though it’s not. It’s only FEELS like a priority because it’s what you’re thinking of in the moment
- You overcommit yourself to things because you don’t say no, not right now, or you book lots of activities that are more fun than the priority things you NEED to do
- You struggle to focus, in part of because you’ve overcommitted yourself and have more than 7 projects on the go at once and are trying to do a little of everything. As a result of not seeing tangible, visible progress because you’re not focusing on making real progress, you procrastinate
- You never or rarely allow contingency time in case things take longer than you plan, life gets in the way, or genuine emergencies happen. Because you don’t prioritise your tasks and overcommit, you start lots of things but don’t always finish them
- You don’t just blitz your clutter, you blitz everything you do, leaving things until the last possible minute. You tell yourself that you’re more productive and focused when you doing something under the stress of an imminent deadline, but this leads to overwhelm and burnout
- You procrastinate because you don’t want to do things that may be challenging, repetitive or boring which only leads to overwhelm and failure
- You’re a perfectionist, which only adds to the reasons why you procrastinate because you don’t want to do things unless you believe you can do them perfectly right from the start. Consequently, you over-plan, never start or move forward, learning as you go
- You’re a people pleaser and don’t know how to say ‘not right now’ to people so you can prioritise your own needs and goals
- You have a reason / justification / excuse for why you’re not being a Successful Snail on your Journey, which fuels the procrastination, increases the stress, and delays you clearing your clutter
