Secrets of Success – Patience

Secrets of Success – Patience

The truth is, 20% of people don’t get beyond Step 1 of their Journey because they don’t have the patience to get into the routine of making and protecting their Journey time, something that doesn’t come naturally to us because we are predominately in-time. Here are 5 things you can do to develop patience to ensure you succeed:

The number one way to develop patience is to set realistic expectations based on the knowledge that successfully clearing your clutter is going to take time and effort, and that making mistakes is essential to your success. We think it’s going to be easy to be a Powerful Elephant doing the maximum. It’s only when we start our Journey that we realise just how much resistance we have to change. When we don’t meet our unrealistic expectations, we give up. The realistic expectation to have throughout your Journey is to be the minimum of a Successful Snail.

Capturing your successes and gratitude’s daily (not just at the end of each Clutter Clearing day) can significantly – and quickly – help you develop patience. By recognising your significant successes and things you are regularly grateful for each day, it will help you stay present, calm and focused, which in turn reduces any anxiety or overwhelm you feel when you think about how much clutter you have and how long it will realistically take to clear.

Learning to manage your perfectionism is crucial to developing patience. If you don’t your perfectionism can lead to excessive stress and fuel your unrealistic expectations, procrastination and self-sabotage. When you focus on progress rather than perfection, you develop patience and a self-care mindset.

It’s easier to be patient when you can see flickers of evidence of your Best Life emerging. When you do your Wheel of Life Review every term you’ll notice when you’re happier and more fulfilled with your Physical / Environment Clutter Segment. OK, it might not be that you’re a lot happier, but ½ a point up is still an improvement. Read (or listen to) your Best Life Script every day so that you can notice and acknowledge when the significant shifts in your life are starting to appear.

You are going to have days, weeks, terms, steps when you’re feeling impatient. If you have regular, appropriate support in place, you’re much more likely to keep ‘doing the doing’ when you don’t feel like it, and as a result, over time you’ll develop patience.

You can clear your clutter FAST, or you can clear your clutter FOREVER, but you can’t clear your clutter FOREVER FAST.
