10 Ways to get into a routine on your Journey
10 WAYS TO GET INTO A ROUTINE ON YOUR JOURNEY
- Do your Wheel of Life Review so you know what you need to do LESS of – or stop doing – to have time to ‘Do the Doing’ of your Journey five days a week
- Work on your Journey as part of your morning routine before you do anything else. That’s when you have the most energy, and you’re least likely to get distracted or interrupted. Get up 30 minutes earlier if you need to. That way you’ve done the minimum before the rest of your day, and it’s OK if you don’t manage to do another 30 minutes later
- Set yourself a DAILY goal to focus on: doing 30 minutes on your Journey as part of your morning routine. If you then feel able to do more, either after the first 30 minutes or later in the day,– that’s a bonus. It’s always better to underestimate so you can overachieve
- Manage your Temporal Discounting (which makes you struggle to focus and finish) by having an experience reward ready for AFTER you’ve done 30 minutes of your Journey and before bedtime
- It will be quicker and easier to get into a routine if you have a goal of being a steady turtle; doing 1 hour a day, five days a week. Doing your Journey is then simply part of your weekly routine
- Block out 2 hours – possibly as 2 x 1 hour slots at different times – on your weekly planner every day. That way you’ve got time protected to do more than the daily goal of 1 hour, and if you have a bad day, you’ve automatically got contingency built into your weekly planner
- Capture your daily successes in terms of your Journey. Every day you do 30 minutes on your Journey (for a maximum of 5 days a week) capture it as a success. If you need a visual motivator, use a wall calendar and mark on it every day that you work on your Journey so you can literally see your routine appear
- Don’t let a bad day turn into a bad week. There will be days when you don’t feel like working on your Journey – and that’s OK. It’s only self-sabotage if you allow a bad day to become a bad week
- Make sleep a priority. A major reason why people fail to get into a routine is because they procrastinate, and one major reason why they procrastinate is because they’re tired. You need mental and emotional energy when you’re on your Journey to learn and make balanced, realistic decisions. Sleep will give you that energy if you prioritise getting into a healthy sleep routine
- Give yourself accountability. If you can’t afford the Private Journey, or a term of private 1-2-1 sessions, find a Clutter Buddy in the VIP Circle who you can do the equivalent of a ‘Weekly Wednesday’ session with, and be accountable to each other. Being a Clutter Buddy doesn’t mean saying ‘oh that’s OK!’ when you / they don’t ‘Do the Doing’ – you need to agree the consequences
You can clear your clutter fast, or you can clear your clutter forever, but you can’t clear your clutter forever, fast.
