Secrets of Success – Focus on what you CAN control
If you want to successfully clear your clutter Forever, just like I did over 20 years ago, you’re going to need to get good at focusing on what you can control and stop spending time on the things you can’t.
Often when people start their 7 Step Journey they think that it will be easy to spend the maximum amount of time on their Journey each day – 2 hours a day, 5 days a week – especially if they don’t work full time or are retired.
Even if they get off to a good start and successfully build a routine of working on their Journey videos 3-5 times a week, before that becomes a new automatic habit (which takes a minimum of 13 weeks), procrastination and self-sabotage often start to set in.
Why? Because they’re getting distracted by things and people they can’t control or influence. They’re not focusing their time, energy and effort on things that they can control, like their Journey time that will get them closer to living their Clutter Free Best Life.
For example, instead of working on their Journey, they’re spending between 30 minutes and 2 hours a day working more hours than they are contracted to work. They spend 2 hours on social media, playing online games, impulse shopping, watching the news which increases negative feelings, watching TV, people pleasing, gossiping with friends or family, going to booking social events or trips – all of which sabotage their time and therefore their Journey.
People who succeed on their Journey focus on the things they CAN control, not the things they can’t.

- Your priorities for your time this term, as identified by doing your Wheel of Life Review
- Having a healthy, regular sleep routine
- Limiting your exposure to news / Social Media / gossip / negative people
- Following your Weekly Planner
- Getitng help from a therapist / counsellor to manage stress, resistance, process past trauma, emotions, memories etc
- Focusing on the positives in your life by capturing successes and gratitude’s in your Journal EVERY DAY.
You can clear your clutter fast, or you can clear your clutter forever, but you can’t clear your clutter forever, fast.
